Ayurveda
Ayurveda sees humans as complete, we in the west describe that as ‘holistic’ which comes from the Greek word ‘holos’ and means ‘whole’. So we take the complete human as starting point. A human does not only have one body, it has one physical body, but also other layers as emotional, energetic, mental and spiritual. All these layers combined make who you are.
When you experience tensions, issues or blockages on one particular level, it will have its set back on other areas as well. Mind and body are intertwined by our energy centra’s, also known as chakra’s.
Ayurveda aims at balancing the person and creating balance and harmony. This already starts at the skin and it’s nourishing. The goal is to create balance and get to the root of the imbalance in order to create a radiant, healthy, silky, soft and vitalized skin and maintain it.
- Ayurveda is a holistic nature science and contains knowledge of humans as a unity with nature and the elements: Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth, which make the 3 dosas Vata, Pitta and Kapha.
- Ayurveda shows us the way to a live in balance and harmony with nature. It gives us the basis for a full and happy wellbeing, a natural beauty and durable health.
- Ayurveda works with a diversity of herbs and minerals, cleansing cures, massages with special oils, lifestyle and nutritional advice, yoga and meditation.
- Ayurveda distinguishes persons with different constitutions, that with the same complaint need different treatments.
- Ayurveda gives us customized treatments.
The Ayurvedic dosha types are: Vata – Pitta – Kapha
The elemental theory (Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth) play an important role with this holistic treatment. There are 3 dosha’s Vata – Pitta – Kapha. Everybody has a unique blend of these 3 dosha’s and elements. The different types are basic forces that each have their own function in our body and are subject to change. Your constitution defines who you are. From the outside (like hair, skin and body build) and from within (like personality). From the moment we are born, we are basically in balance, but the nutrition, weather and lifestyle can throw us of balance. The disbalance can be restored!
Skin type according to Ayurveda
VATA SKIN: thin, nice skin with a lot of mimic expression; soft and fine pores. A imbalanced skin has low sebum and lacks hydration, is often dry and looks pale and mat. The mimic lines will occur more easily and the skin often itches and can look craquelé. The Vata skin needs care and nourishment to look beautiful and youthful.
PITTA SKIN: a clear, well circulated skin with average thickness and normal shine, medium pores and some freckles. A imbalanced skin is sensitive and stressed, may suffer from a reduced lipid barrier, some superficial pimples, skin rash, redness, couperosis and pigmentation sports. The Pitta skin needs half full products that calm the skin and support the lipid barrier.
KAPHA SKIN: a very soft, thick skin with a bit les mimic, somewhat larger pores and more skin glow. The skin will keep its youthful appearance longer. An imbalanced skin can have the tendency to have a more oily skin and can struggle with dilated pores, acne, excessive skin glow. It can appear pale with lower blood circulation. The Kapha skin needs lean products that restore the hydration and stimulate the skin function.
